West Depwade by-election

Catherine Rowett was elected County Councillor for West Depwade!
Due to to the sad sudden death of Barry Duffin the County Councillor for West Depwade (see map below) a by-election was called for 13th July.
West Depwade is made up of 16 villages between Diss and Wymondham including Bressingham, Burston, Aslacton, Ashwellthorpe, Forncett, Winfarthing, Tibenham, Dickleburgh and the Tivetshalls. 13 of these villages are in the Waveney Valley constituency where Adrian Ramsay is a national Green Party target for MP. So this was a crucial campaign!

“Electing a Green Party politician to represent you, whether on the county council or in Westminster, means electing someone whose ambition is to make your world, your life and your environment better. Green party councillors take their service to the community seriously and if you elect me I shall do my best to listen to local people’s concerns and speak for them in the Council. The people of this region elected me in 2019 to be their Green Party MEP in the European Parliament— and that led me to explore many issues relating to the needs of farming communities, fishing, shipping, small businesses and renewable energy across East Anglia. But I also care deeply about rural transport, the provision of local services like post offices, banks and GP surgeries, and the protection of green field sites from over development for housing. I am currently a professor at the University of East Anglia, where I specialise in ideas put forward by thinkers of ancient Greece and Rome (from whom we can learn a lot about how to live well and be properly happy without destroying the planet). If you are currently feeling let down by your old political party, now is a good moment to try voting Green instead. It’s not too late to do something adventurous and meaningful for the young people who must inherit the mess we are leaving for them."
